Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you to everyone who assisted with the spelling bee, especially Sandy Russell who was the pronouncer, and Kayla Rose as a judge. Picture 1 - Qualified to compete at the Fulton County Spelling in January are Chayton Ruby, Breana Conforth, Makayla French, Hudson Barton, Avery McNabb, and Briley Smith. Picture 2 - District Champion Avery McNabb (7th grade). Runner-up Briley Smith (5th grade). The bee lasted for 20 rounds and the winning word was surcharge. High School Update: For the Fall 2024 semester, every MSHS student will be required to complete a cumulative exam/project for each of their classes. For the Spring 2025 semester, the following rules will apply: If a student has an A in the class and 3 or fewer absences, they may be excused from testing. If a student has a B in the class and 2 or fewer absences, they may be excused from testing. If a student has a C in the class and 1 or fewer absences, they may be excused from testing. The Fall semester test schedule is as follows: Monday, December 16- Review Day Tuesday, December 17- Even Periods (2,4,8,9) Wednesday, December 18- Odd Periods (1,3,5,7) Thursday, December 19- Make-up Testing Friday, December 20- Make-up Testing If a student is unable to take their test on the scheduled date, they must make arrangements with the teacher and the high school office in advance. No tests are to be given early without prior administrative authorization. Thank you.

Athletic Update: We are rolling right along in Bear and Lady Bear Basketball. All four teams take on Melbourne Friday afternoon at the Bear Den, with junior girls starting at 4:30. Next week, both senior high groups will travel to Buffalo Island Central on Monday to play the Mustangs at 5:00. We hope to see everyone Friday for a fun night of hoops!

This morning, we learned of the heartbreaking loss of a student from the Salem School District. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the student's family, friends, and the Salem community. Counselors are available on campus to support our students and staff. We are all one community and stand together in this time of loss. Games this evening have been canceled.💙💛
