Many have asked about the parent survey we sent out regarding the mask mandate. We had 465 responses and the results were brought before the board for consideration at the meeting Monday evening. The graphic below shows the results from the survey.
10.5% (blue) - Students would be required to bring a mask to school every day. If the school had two positive student/staff cases and/or if the Fulton County COVID rate went above 0.25% (30 individuals in the county) as a whole, then masks would be required until the rate on campus cases fell below two active cases and/or the Fulton County COVID rate fell below 0.25%. Otherwise, it will be up to the individual whether they choose to wear a mask.
42.8% (red)- Keep the mask mandate as is.
45.8% (orange)- Individual choice to wear a mask
0.9% (white)- Other

The mask mandate for students age 10 and up will continue to be in effect until further notice due to a tie vote among the school board members.

Parents/Guardians,
As most of you know, Governor Asa Hutchinson has lifted the mask mandate for the state of Arkansas effective March 30. However, the Arkansas Department of Education is leaving it up to individual school boards to continue or discontinue the use of masks in the school. We have created a survey to get your input on the continued usage of masks for the Mammoth Spring School District. Your input will help the Ready for Learning Committee make a recommendation to the school board on this issue. You should make your submission no later than noon, Wednesday, April 7.

Dear MSHS Parents/Guardians,
Next week begins our state testing in the High School (7th - 10th grades). Testing will take place each morning, Monday through Friday beginning at 8:00 am. Testing should not last more than an hour and a half each day. Possibly shorter on some mornings.
The administration and faculty would like to present an incentive for the students to attend each day of testing and encourage them to do their best on this test.
Testing Incentive:
*For those students who were present for EACH day of testing, they will be exempt from their semester finals.
*Those students will also get a morning at the Mammoth Spring State Park on May 19th from 8:30 to 12:30. Lunch will be provided along with Spring Dipper Ice Cream.
**If a student is absent for a test session, they will have to stay at school and take their semester finals on that day. So please encourage your child to attend each testing day!
Remind your child to eat a good breakfast and get a good night’s rest next week so they will be fueled and ready to do their best!! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 625-7212.
Sincerely,
Mary C Holland
Mammoth Spring High School Principal

We are selling tickets for $20 and we are limiting the number of tickets sold to 250. We will draw the winning tickets as soon as we sell all 250, which will give the winners time to come up with the room to store the beef in their freezers! Tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Please contact Anthony Collins at acollins@mssd.us with your purchase requests.

Parents, we need your help! We have been having a lot of students (10 and older) who are coming to school without masks or not wearing their masks when they are required to. If your child is 10 years old or older, they are required to wear a face mask at school. Please help us out by making sure they are wearing their masks when they come to school and encourage them to wear their masks throughout the day. We understand masking is not the most convenient thing, but it's what we have to do to keep our school open. We have disposable masks here at school, but they are not easy to come by if we run out. Please help us keep our kids healthy!

MSHS will have a "Virtual Day" on Friday, October 23rd. Parents may choose to send their children to school or keep them at home that day. All teachers will be "on campus" to assist students the entire day. Going "virtual" for one day allows students to practice working independently on their Google Classroom assignments for that day and communicating with their teachers via email or online meetings. This experience also provides the opportunity for students and teachers to identify problems, glitches, and obstacles that may arise if MSHS does "go virtual" for any reason. Again, parents may choose to send their children to school on Friday the 23rd or let them remain at home. In either event, students will participate in their full day of scheduled learning activities in the classroom or at home.

Grades K-12 will be having a "virtual day" on Friday, October 23 to test our virtual learning platform in the students' home environment. During this virtual day, students are not required to be present in the building. They will instead do their assignments from home. However, if your children need to come to school, buses will be running and meals will be served. Preschool will remain on their normal schedule, as they do not have a virtual option. If you do not have internet access at home, please call 870-625-7213 to notify the school no later than Wednesday, October 21. This will allow us plenty of time to make the appropriate accommodations for those students with no internet access.

Monday night's basketball games with Calico Rock have been cancelled.

As of tomorrow, the breakfast menu is subject to change. We will try to update the app and website with any changes as soon as we can. Thank you!

Financial Aid Night is tonight from 5:30-6:30 in the High School Library. Ozarka Financial Aid staff will be on hand to answer questions and help seniors fill out their FAFSA. Parents of seniors are encouraged to attend.
Masks and social distancing are required.

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in our area, the Mammoth Spring School District has made the decision to cancel all athletic events for the week of October 12-16. We are currently working on our COVID plan on campus to allow for more social distancing among students and staff. We ask that everyone be mindful of social distancing and wearing masks when out in public places. We thank you all for your continued support and efforts to keep our students and staff safe and healthy.

Extra tickets for Monday’s Blue & White Game (Boys Session & Girls Session) are available for pick up at the Main Gym. Please call 870-371-1344 when you are outside and we will bring them to your vehicle! #3DAYS #GOBEARS

Calling all Bear fans! Since we will not have a visitor crowd for the Blue and White game, we have decided to do a one-time ticket giveaway this Thursday, October 8 from 5:30-6 PM in front of the high school. These will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis and you must be present at the time of pick-up to use these tickets. You cannot send someone to pick the tickets up for you. The games will consist of 1 girls session and 1 boys session with 20 pods of 2 and 1 pod of 4 available for each session. A total of 44 tickets for each session will be available. Limit of 1 session per person. Again, this is a one-time deal!
We ask that everyone pull in front of the high school doors and stay in their vehicles when picking up tickets.
The Blue and White games are scheduled for Monday, October 12 starting at 5:30 PM. Masks and social distancing will be enforced in the gym to ensure the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, and fans.

Parents:
Virtual Meals are continuing to be distributed each Friday from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
We are asking that if you have requested a meal, and have not picked them up, please call if you still want a meal. We know things happen. If we do not hear from you, we will stop making meals for those that have not picked up in 3 weeks.
If you want a meal and have never asked for a meal for your virtual student(s), please call the school at 870-625-7212 to have them added.

We hope your kids had a great first day! We are so excited to see our students faces! There have been a lot of changes this year and we want to thank everyone for being patient and understanding! With that being said, we have a few reminders for elementary parents:
1. Parent pick up will be on the east side of the building, closest to the Multi-Purpose Building.
2. Due to COVID and keeping social distance, we are asking parents to please STAY IN THEIR CARS in the pick up line. Staff will escort your child to your car when you get to them.
3. If your child is doing anything other than what they normally do after school (pick-up/bus etc), please call the office NO LATER THAN 2:30 (unless it's an emergency). This gives our staff enough time to make sure our students go where they are supposed to go after school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school as comments and messages on this page are not active. We are ready for a great year and appreciate your help in keeping our students safe and healthy!

Clarification for the "Open House" cancellation. The HIGH SCHOOL "Open House" has been cancelled for August 20th. The Elementary activity is still scheduled to occur as planned.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions and concerns for our students' and community's safety and well-being, there will be NO "Open House" tomorrow evening, August 20th.

Due to new state regulations, we will be unable to have a traditional Open House. Due to these new regulations, we had to think outside of the box. While we may not be able to have our families in our building, we do want to have a face to face meet and greet with our students and their families. So we will be hosting a “Drive by the House” instead. The entire preschool staff will be stationed outside the preschool building on Thursday night, from 4-8pm. We will greet families as they drive through our parking lot. We will have goodie bags for our students, important paperwork for parents, and certificates for students that were students last year. We will be posting a virtual Open House on Thursday to our Facebook page so that everyone can see how wonderful our building looks. Please know that the purpose of the closed door open house is to protect our students and staff. We are so excited to have everyone be a part of our school family. We look forward to working with you. We promise as soon as we are allowed to open up our building to visitors, we will invited our families in with open arms.

7th Grade Orientation is scheduled for August 18 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the High School Cafeteria. All ADE and ADH COVID guidelines will be followed.
